This describes how Jesus Speaks collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information.
1. Who we are
Jesus Speaks (“Jesus Speaks”, “we”, “us”) provides a real-time speech translation service that transcribes a speaker, translates what is said, and delivers live captions and spoken audio to listeners in their own language. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use jesusspeaks.eu and the service, how we use it, who we share it with, how it is transferred, and how we protect it. We are the data controller for that information. For any privacy question, contact us at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service:
- Account & organization details — the name, email address, organization name and website you provide when you sign up or are invited, and the plan you choose.
- Authentication data — a hashed password (we never store your password in readable form), sign-in cookies, and one-time email sign-in links.
- Statement-of-faith affirmation — where sign-up requires it, a record that your organization affirmed our statement of faith, with a timestamp.
- Session content — the audio a speaker sends is transcribed and translated in real time; the resulting text transcript of a session, and any documents an operator uploads to guide translation, are stored so the session can be reviewed, downloaded, and reported on. This content can include the substance of what is spoken at your event.
- Listener information — listeners join a public link without an account. If your organization chooses to require a name before viewing, that name is stored and shown only to your organization and our administrators.
- Billing data — your credit balance, usage, and a transaction history. Card payments are handled by our payment processor; we receive confirmation and a customer reference but never the full card number.
- Technical & usage data — IP address, browser/device information, and log data, used to operate, secure, and debug the service (for example, rate-limiting and blocking abuse).
- Support & contact data — the details and any diagnostics you send when you contact us or submit a support request.
- Cookies — a strictly-necessary cookie to keep you signed in, and, only with your consent, analytics cookies (see section 4).
3. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- provide the service — capture, transcribe, translate and deliver speech to listeners;
- create and secure your account, sign you in, and prevent fraud, abuse, and bot activity;
- process payments, manage subscriptions and credits, and provide billing and usage reports;
- respond to your support requests and send service messages (sign-in links, receipts, notices);
- with your consent, measure how visitors find and use the marketing site;
- maintain records we are required to keep and comply with our legal obligations.
Our legal bases (where GDPR applies) are performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and securing the service, your consent (for non-essential cookies), and compliance with legal obligations. We do not use your session content to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal information.
4. Cookies & analytics
The sign-in cookie is strictly necessary and is always on when you are logged in. Analytics cookies are off by default— they load only after you accept them in our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer (declining removes any analytics cookies already set). We do not run analytics on the operator, listener, or in-session pages.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, so we can run the service:
- Cloud hosting, storage & content delivery — to run the application and store your account data, transcripts, and audio.
- Speech & language processing — to transcribe, translate, and synthesize speech in real time; session audio and text are sent to these providers to be processed and returned, under data-processing terms.
- Payment processing — to take payments and manage subscriptions.
- Email delivery — to send sign-in links, receipts, and notices.
- Security & bot protection — to protect the service from abuse and fraud.
- Analytics — only if you consent, to understand site traffic.
Method of disclosure: information is disclosed to these processors through secure, encrypted (TLS/HTTPS) connections and APIs, and only for the purposes above. Each processor acts on our instructions under a data-processing agreement. We can provide the specific list of sub-processors on request at
[email protected]. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or in connection with a business transfer, in which case this policy will continue to apply.
6. International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent recognised transfer mechanism, to protect your information.
7. How long we keep it
We keep account and billing records for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution needs. Session transcripts and related records are retained on a rolling basis and then deleted; usage and transaction records are kept for roughly a year. You can ask us to delete your data sooner (see section 9), subject to any records we must retain by law.
8. How we protect your information
We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, including:
- encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) for all connections to the service and our providers;
- passwords stored only as salted one-way hashes, and signed, expiring session tokens;
- access controls that limit data to your organization and our administrators;
- rate-limiting, brute-force lockout, and automated bot protection against abuse;
- vetted service providers bound by data-processing agreements.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address any issue promptly.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent (for example, to analytics cookies) at any time. To exercise any of these, contact us at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. If you are an organization using the service, individual listeners or members should direct requests to you as the controller of that content, and we will assist you as your processor.
10. Children
The service is intended for organizations and adults acting on their behalf. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date below and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
